Course Outline:
Lesson 1: Understanding Cloud Computing Concepts
Cloud computing is one of the most exciting, revolutionary, and industry-changing technologies for businesses. As you embark on your journey to a better understanding of the cloud, it is important to develop a certain amount of vocabulary. In this lesson, you will learn the basic concepts that define the cloud, the service models that define its implementation, the deployment models used to provide cloud services to companies, and the shared security model.
Lesson 2: Applying Cloud Business Principles
Now that you have identified the fundamental cloud computing concepts, you need to apply those concepts to business principles. During this lesson, you will relate the fundamental cloud concepts to business principles. Next, you will explore the considerations for establishing cloud vendor relations. You will also investigate the financial aspects of engaging a cloud services vendor. Finally, you will examine financial expenditures reporting.
Lesson 3: Advising a Cloud Design and Migration
Now that you have an understanding of cloud concepts and how they relate to business principles, it is time to examine cloud design and migration strategies. In this lesson, you will review how cloud concepts relate to cloud design and migration. You will consider cloud assessment opportunities and the management of cloud design. You will learn cloud migration approaches. Finally, you will identify potential benefits and solutions that may result from a cloud migration.
Lesson 4: Operating in the Cloud
In this lesson you will examine cloud operations. Cloud operations are the day-to-day administration of cloud resources. This administration includes data management tasks such as monitoring and optimization, as well as deployment choices like availability zones and regions. Cloud deployments may be managed under the DevOps framework. DevOps supports a faster, more agile development and operations life cycle that emphasizes continuous integration and continuous delivery. Cloud security is broken into two components: the security responsibilities of the cloud service provider (CSP) and the responsibilities of the organization’s operations team. The CSP secures the data center, while the organization secures its contents inside the data center. The organization’s responsibilities will include security assessments, data security, application security, infrastructure security, and network security. The organization will also be responsible for user authentication. Cloud operations significantly redefine the daily role of the IT administrator.
Lesson 5: Managing Cloud Governance
Governance and compliance include identifying and managing risk, providing employees with consistent and accurate procedures, and ensuring industry regulation compliance. In this lesson, you will understand how governance relates to the basic cloud concepts. You will learn to apply risk management concepts to cloud deployments. Depending on the industry your organization is a part of, you may be required to demonstrate additional compliance and certification. Medical and legal industries are good examples of such regulation. Your organization should review or create appropriate documentation for managing risk, process or software changes, security settings, etc.
